First off, as of today, Ashton's 2 months and 12 days old. So, I guess you could say I'm a little behind schedule! But better now than never! I guess I just wanted to start this blog for family, grandparents, great-grandparents, cousins, friends... whoever else wants to look and follow our lives as new parents! I'll try to write as much as possible...!
Scotty works about 32-40 hours a week at Holiday Gas Station in Hibbing, he is going to school and is going to be graduating next month! (May something.. I'm not sure of the date right now!) He'll be getting his Electrician's 2 year degree from HCC.. we're not sure where we're going to end up after he graduates.. but we're hoping he can find a job right away!
I stay home with Ashton..and our bulldog Layla! I haven't worked since the week Ashton was born.. I plan to go back sometime this summer.. probably in June! I work at Heritage Manor in Chisholm as a CNA. I also am currently going to school. I am taking 13 credits, all on-line courses, at HCC. My classes are pretty hard.. and I wish I would have just taken the semester off with a new baby.. but I'm still truckin along and just waitin for the semester to be over to finally..relax! Other than that, I love being home with my baby and dog, but I don't get to see Scotty much since he goes to school and then work almost everyday of the week! When we do get to see eachother, we make the best of it and try to go do fun things! Like..go for a walk, go out to eat, or just whatever!
Ashton is growing up so fast...he's smiling more and more every-day and I think he's trying to get the whole laugh out loud thing down! He squeals and screams in delight and makes little ha-ha sounds but no laughing out loud yet! About 2 days ago.. he sat up in his Bumbo for the first time! I guess mama didn't think that lil 2 month old babies could be put in one so soon until she googled when babies can be put in Bumbos! Ashton loves to suck on his fists, fingers, knuckles, and everything else on his hands...so let the mouthing Everything begin! About 1 and 1/2 weeks ago he completely out-grew his newborn clothes.. so onto 0-3 month and 3 month clothes!! Some 0-3 month clothes don't even fit him! My little boy is getting so big...! Ashton sleeps through the night so well now. He'll go between 6-8 hours at a time without getting fed, and thats really good for a little 2 monther! And good for mama and dada so they get their sleep.. again! Ashton gets alot of tummytime... but he doesn't like it! He'll be down there for about 10 minutes tops and then he'll start to fuss big time if he doesn't start to fuss, he'll fall asleep on his tummy, so we have a few issues there that we need to work on. But, he ♥'s to be on his back! He'll go crazy and punch the lil ball that dangles over his head..very cute! When Ashton was about 2 weeks old..when he was on his tummy..if you put your hands by his feet..he would scoot and push off your hands with his feet as far as we let him..we were worried after awhile that he was going to get blanket/carpet/couch burned on his face..lol! Oh yeah, Ashton's vvveerrryy tickolish! haha... on his feet, cheeks, sides, knees! I'll update as much as possible as he progresses on this whole baby thing! :)
Layla is wonderful with Ashton. The only thing is, Layla loves to lick...EVERYTHING! Scotty's auntie told us that babies aren't supposed to be licked by any animals before they're 3 months old. Something with animal's/dog's saliva that babies skin can't tolerate. So, the only thing that we have to stop Layla from doing is licking Ashton...which sucks because Layla's way of showing that she likes you is for her to lick you! She gets a few licks in every now and then before we can stop her...but I think if we wouldn't let her AT ALL she would think that being by the baby and being good to the baby is a bad thing.. we wouldn't want that! :)
Scotty and I got to go out on a date last night...Grandma Carol watched Ashton and Layla here at the apartment! We went to the 7 o clock movie to see I love you, man (which by the way was an Excellent movie!) But, like 20 minutes into the movie, my mom calls me! Me, thinking something was very wrong, I answered and she was telling me that the cops were gonna tow my car cuz the ambulance couldn't get through because I was on the wrong side of the road! (calander parking)... Man oh man.. so me and scotty had to drive all the way back home, during our movie, to get back to find out that my car was on the RIGHT side of the road! Ugh..! We were so overwhelmed with the Chisholm cops.. so we had to go find a cop...and tell them that they were wrong and to NOT tow our car! lol.. so it was a pretty eventful night, it ended very good though. We went back to the 9 o clock movie, (the same movie) and finished our movie while Grandma watched the lil guy... got some icecream, and came back home. It's so nice to get out once in awhile!
Well, hope everyone's well! I gotta do tons of homework today by the end of tomorrow! :(
